This is a problem that people are facing with many daily deal sites… Some of these sites have the muscle to take on the erring merchant / vendor, but do not take action as it risks bad press and puts a strain on the merchant-client relationship if the vendor is a formidable one.

But then again, it’s too early to say that about timesdeal or dealface since they were launched just a few months back and are yet to achieve scale in terms of the transaction volume… So do not be surprised if you face the same issues with these ‘genuine’ deal sites a few months from now.

The risk is always present in the case of services deals (restaurants, spas/salon, etc.) However, in the case of products, the best option is Cash on Delivery (CoD) if it’s available as you do not have to worry about shipment delays and you can check the quality of the goods (e.g., damages) before paying up.
