LivingSocial (India)

Posted on by Praveen |  Comment

After Groupon and eBay, another international player readies itself to foray into the Indian deal space. LivingSocial, the Amazon backed daily deal giant & chief Groupon rival has already created a landing page and started advertising. A simple Google Search for the keyword ‘deals’ displays a sponsored LivingSocial landing page link right at the top!

Will they go for an acquisition or just launch on their own? Keep watching this space for more updates…

It would be interesting to see how things change once Living social comes here. High time for consolidations?

That’s the million dollar question! Will LivingSocial go the Groupon way and acquire someone or will they just start from scratch??

Consolidation in this space is inevitable.. We’ve already seen the demise of some daily deal players.

Currently FDI is only allowed in 6 cities and expanding to other cities is possible through partnerships/acquisitions of local players.

So, a major decision point would be driven by LivingSocial’s launch plan – so they want to simultaneously launch in tier-2 cities as well or will they just stick to the metros first and then expand slowly to other cities?
